The Elephant Lifting SA Series SA-050-10 hoist is a single-speed, single-phase electric chain hoist with a hook mount, and a 0.61-horsepower insulated motor with a 115V/60Hz power input. It is fully enclosed within a powder-coated steel plate housing that is suitable for indoor or outdoor applications, has a 10' lift, a 13.5 feet per minute (fpm) lift speed, and a 1100 lb. lift capacity. The hoist's motor is insulated to resist heat damage and has an electronic thermal protector that senses an increase in the motor's temperature, or if it has run too long, and shuts the motor off until fully cooled. The plug-in cord on this hoist is designed to connect to the MTS series motorized hoist trolley (sold separately) without requiring electrical work for plug-and-play mobility.
The load chain is made of case-hardened grade 80 steel that has been mechanically galvanized to resist corrosion. Limit switches at the top and bottom of the load chain prevent damage caused by a load being over-lifted or over-lowered. The steel hooks on this hoist are drop-forged for strength, and they open slowly to visually indicate overload for damage resistance and added safety. The load hook swivels 360 degrees for precise load positioning. This hoist has an electro-magnetic DC brake to stop and hold a load while generating a minimal amount of heat caused by friction. The 24V pendant control on this hoist comes with a standard 8' cord and an emergency stop button that disengages the motor and stops the hoist when pressed. The pendant has an IP65 Ingress Protection rating for protection against dust and water spray and a National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) 4X rating for resistance to corrosion and caustic materials. This hoist has an American National Standards Institute/American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ANSI/ASME) H3 duty cycle classification typically for use in general machine shop fabricating, assembly, storage, and warehousing, with loads and use randomly distributed. The hoist body has an IP54 Ingress Protection rating for protection against dust and water spray. It is manufacturer load-tested to 125% of rated capacity in accordance with ANSI/ASME requirements, and is built to comply with ANSI/ASME B30.16 standards and European Conformity (EC) Machinery Directive 89/392/EEC, Annex II A for quality assurance.

Headroom is the distance from the bottom of the load hook to the top of the hoist. This is the minimum amount of vertical space needed for the hoist to hang freely and operate correctly. Duty ratings describe the maximum amount of time a power hoist can run and the number of times it can start over a given time period under various conditions such as intermittent use, or short and lengthy periods of operation.
